The Signal Behind · Privacy

Plain-language privacy. No dark patterns.

Resonance Stack collects the minimum data needed to know whether anyone is reading us, and to keep the lights on through ads and affiliate links. We do not sell reader data. We do not run remarketing pixels. This page tells you exactly what is collected, by whom, and how to opt out.

The short version.

Who runs this site.

Resonance Stack is published by Josh Chen (Taipei, Taiwan) as an independent editorial project. There is no parent company. There is no paid editorial staff. Hosting is on Cloudflare Pages. Content is served from a private GitHub repository. The publisher's contact email above is monitored by a human.

What we collect ourselves.

Beyond standard web-server access logs (IP address, request URL, timestamp, HTTP user-agent — typical Cloudflare edge log fields), we do not run any first-party analytics, email pixel, fingerprinting script, or user profiling tooling. We do not have user accounts. We do not have a newsletter at present; if one launches, this page will be updated and a separate consent flow will gate any email collection.

The only first-party cookie set by our code is rs-theme, used to remember whether you chose light or dark mode. It is functional, not analytics, and lives only in localStorage.

What third parties collect on our pages.

Service 01

Google Analytics 4 (GA4).

Pageview counts, session duration, traffic source, country-level location, broad device category. IP addresses are truncated before storage per Google's documented behaviour. Property ID G-VK855HRLKF. We use this to know which reviews are read and which fall flat — not to identify individuals. Data is subject to Google's Privacy Policy.

Service 02

Google AdSense (where ad slots are filled).

Some article pages display Google AdSense placements. AdSense and its ad-tech partners may set cookies for ad targeting and frequency capping. Reader IPs and behaviour signals are processed by Google per their advertising privacy policy. You can opt out of personalized ads at Google Ad Settings or, for EU/UK readers, via the consent banner Google serves.

Service 03

Affiliate networks (Amazon Associates, 博客來, etc.).

When you click an affiliate link, the destination vendor (e.g. amazon.com) sees a tracking parameter that identifies us as the referrer. The vendor's cookies and tracking are governed by their own privacy policy, not ours. See our Affiliate Disclosure for which programs are active.

Service 04

Cloudflare (hosting + CDN).

Cloudflare provides edge caching, TLS termination, and DDoS protection. It logs standard request metadata for security and billing — see Cloudflare's Privacy Policy. We never store these logs or correlate them with reader identity.

Cookie inventory.

How to opt out.

Opt out of Google Analytics across the web

Install Google's official Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. Once installed, our GA4 will not record your visits and neither will any other GA4-instrumented site. No re-installation needed per site.

Opt out of personalized ads

Visit Google Ad Settings and toggle personalization off. Ads will still appear but will not be tailored to your inferred interests. EU/UK readers can also use the consent banner Google serves on first visit.

Block all third-party cookies

Use any modern browser's "Block third-party cookies" setting (Safari, Firefox, Brave block by default; Chrome under Settings → Privacy and security → Third-party cookies). Our site remains fully readable; only the third-party analytics and ad-targeting features above are blocked.

Children's privacy.

Resonance Stack writes about AI infrastructure for technical adults. The content is not directed at children under 13 (US COPPA threshold) or under 16 (EU GDPR-K threshold). If we ever learn that a reader under those thresholds submitted personal data, we will delete it on request.

International transfers.

The site is served globally via Cloudflare's edge network. Reader requests are processed by the nearest Cloudflare data center, which may be outside your country of residence. Google's analytics and ad services may transfer data to the United States under Google's standard contractual clauses or successor frameworks (see Google's privacy policy linked above).
